SAATCHI / 2008 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER

- JUL 2007

Kings Creek Station in remote Northern Territory was the first of two international settings for the upcoming US auto release. With the launch set for Oct 19, the 2008 Landcruiser 200 Series takes 4WD’s to the next level.

A Saatchi & Saatchi LA campaign, Matthew GORMLY was commissioned by an LA production company to shoot and crew three related tv/web projects.

A Making-Of feature on the brochure’s photo shoot, interstitial-style commercial segments detailing the car’s features, and shooting Speed Channel’s TEST DRIVE programme (30min).

Production ran 12-days, out of phone-range, 340km west of Alice Springs NT in the middle of the desert. The production enjoyed station life amidst the 800,000 acres of ranch - testing the car’s features beyond doubt, capturing the abundant beauty, …and camel mustering.

The area is swarming with wild camels – huge illustrious beasts, each pictures of perfect health – and Ian Conway of Kings Creek Station is synonymous with them. Ian led the Toyota party on an amazing adventure, and kept a captive audience along the way.

Particulars of the shoot remain under wraps, but keep an eye out for www.toyota.com/landcruiser on Oct 19.

Filmed on the Sony HDcam F900R at 24P 16:9, technical elements inc. handheld aerials, car-mounts, in-car handheld, lipstick cameras, pin-hole & CCTV cameras, on-car HMI lighting, and Quadbike rigs.

Crewed by DP Matthew GORMLY, with Jim GRAHAM on Sound. AP was Hilton HOWSON, and Grip Chris DAVIES.
