AUSTRALIAN HEARING- MAY 2007The grandkids sing a birthday song to Grandpa, but he can’t hear them because he’s deaf. As DP & Director, Matt Gormly shot the 45sec TVC for the AUSTRALIAN HEARING Federal Government health initiative. The commercial (not PSA) encourages communities to take action to restore any hearing loss. By attending the mobile Australian Hearing clinics, indigenous people receive complimentary testing & treatment. The spot aimed to cut through male pride issues, to encourage treatment and promote community awareness, with casting paramount to the campaign’s success. Production ran two days, shot on Digital Betacam 16:9, with a rehearsal day followed by the shoot day. Cast was confirmed on the day, and consisted of 6 indigenous youngsters from 6 to 15, and Frank a regional elder. All made their acting debut on the day, displayed great focus, and endured our efficient yet relaxed production. Camera & lighting by Travelling Matt. Special mention to Paul Howarth www.Lashgraphics.com who edited the piece, was a godsend on location, and finished the job beyond his job description. Also, the www.OriginCommunications.com.au team who set the shoot in place with extreme proficiency and talent. ![]() ![]() |
